Shack Session
I decided to stick up a sketch of last night instead of a photo this week, feel free to go to the bottom of this post to see a photo instead – or to compare the horrible attempt at likenesses. *grin*
So the bean and I headed out to the Shack last night a bit early and stumbled upon a pub full to the brim with folks watching the Celtic vs Man U game on the big screen. After the game the pub emptied a bit, but then after we’d been playing for a while it filled right back up. I’d have to say it was one of the busiest Tuesday nights I’d seen there in a while.
The session itself was well attended as well, as Pads and ze germanz arrived soon after ourselves. We were joined soon by the sheriff, the fingerpicker and our new songwriter, finn, who has attended past Shack sessions as well. The bean and I cranked out a humorous version of this song early in the night.
The shack is an excellent spot for songwriters to try out new material – you could hardly find a more chilled out group. It helps that more than a few of the attending musicians are songwriters themselves. In that vein, here is one of finn’s pieces as well, for your listening pleasure. I think it might be called “Dreaming of Memphis”.
Now, for those of you curious, on the right there is a photo of the session corresponding to the sketch above. Now!
