Damien Dempsey Tonight!
So I play a bit of music myself. Like most musicians, I’ve amassed the necessary equipment with which to carry out a successful show. I received a call recently from a good friend in Ballymahon who is coordinating a show for Damien Dempsey and was asked if I could do sound on the night.
The thing about this show is that Damien, who would normally be able to sell out a huge festival as a headlining act, is playing a 60-seat intimate theatre venue. I mean, people will be sitting maybe 10 feet away from him. The show is at the Bog Lane Theatre and is part of Damien’s latest endeavor; to play small (or, in this case, TINY) venues throughout the country in order to better communicate his music directly to an audience.
Needless to say, I’m a bit nervous. Lucky for me, ze germanz will be doing most of the heavy lifting, I’ll esentially be playing grip. I’ll see what I can do to get some photos and mp3s of the show up here tomorrow . . .
