Dublin Hostel Reviews – Trekker’s Hostel Highlights

Greetings and salutations fellow travelers, here is a little wrap up of the hostel reviews I did during my recent travels in Dublin’s fair city.

Avalon House: With lots of in house activities and unique use of space in dorms, Avalon House is a great stop. Only 10minutes from Temple Bar and across the street from the St. Valentines Shrine there is lots to see and do.

Four Courts Hostel : If you don’t mind a bit of a walk from the train station, Four Courts is perfect. The location is right on the banks of the Liffy and in between the Guiness Factory and Temple Bar, the halls are painted with pictures from the Book of Kells and the staff is fantastic.

Globetrotters / Townhouse : Connected to a B&B, with a small garden and lots of space, the higher price of this hostel might dissuade you, but that includes a full Irish breakfast and that’s enough to keep you sated for the whole day.

Jacobs Inn : Newly renovated and sister hostel to Isaacs, Jacobs has lots of rooms and a restaurant making it a perfect spot for groups.

Kinlay House : With some of the friendliest staff this is a great hostel for the individual traveler. The common looks over the St. Patrick’s Day parade route and the location near the Temple Bar area and the Guiness Factory makes everything in perfect stumbling distance.

Isaacs : The original stonework in the building really give the hostel a great vibe and if you don’t mind the fact that there is no elevator it is a great stop for the single traveler. There is even a sauna!

Marlborough Hostel : Great staff make a good impression as you enter the hostel, the friendly atmosphere make a good vibe for the single traveler, along with brightly painted walls, a fantastic BBQ area and an elusive hostel cat.

Paddy’s Palace : There are 6 hostels associated with Paddy Wagon Tours and this is the Dublin contingent. There isn’t a huge common area and having to leave a deposit for kitchen utensils might become tiresome, but with the tours leaving and ending here it makes for a convenient stop.

The Bunkhouse : Barely a year old, the Bunkhouse is the new kid to the block. My favorite area was the TV room with the world’s comfiest bean bags, all this adds to a great vibe and a good stop for the night.

The Shining Hostel : Hopefully by now this hostel has a sign up and rooms renovated. It is the only hostel I have seen thus far with triple story bunk beds, a scary thought on the soberest of days.
